The concept seemed to be there. It seemed kind of plausible. The story seemed to be fast paced and moving to something really great but then kind of left you hanging. It was like a prank. I love Julianne Moore. Even in this fluke of a movie, she shined. It goes to show how great she is. I think Nicholas Cage should stop trying to be an action hero.. it only worked when he was younger, now he's just too old. 1 out of 4

The Namesake

The Namesake... I had higher expectation of this movie. I didn't like Kal Penn at all in this movie. Maybe it's his acting ability compared to those that played his parents. The only thing I enjoyed in this film was the parents storyline. I know that there were so many underlying themes but it just seemed so messy to me. I'm sure the book is a lot better. 2 out of 4

One Night with the King

I added this movie to my queue when it was recommended to me based on my recent viewed movies, awhile ago. As I sat watching it, it follow a woman named Hedassa who changed her name to Esther so that she can hide being Jewish. She was this humble but yet strong beautiful woman chosen to be queen. She spoke of the bible story of David and Goliath and Jacob. Hmmm! Is this a Christian movie? I know Esther is in the bible. The movie a bit confusing in many places and it dragged a bit but the core theme of the movie was so beautiful. This woman... Esther. So after the movie, I took out my bible looked in the back where it lists keywords and where you can find it in the bible. I looked up Esther and low and behold there is a book of Esther in the Old Testament. I am ashamed that I never read this book. It was all in there. King Xerxes... everything. That this heroic woman is in the bible. Her complete faith in God, gave her the strength to risk her life for her people. I was moved. I enjoyed the movie. 3 out of 4

Half Nelson

Ryan Gosling was nominated for an oscar for his role in this movie. He plays a drug addicted teacher trying to make a difference in an urban school. I was actually awed by the acting debut of Shareeka Epps. She plays the student of Goslings character who befriends him by witnessing his addiction to drugs. Surprisingly, the movie was entertaining not because of it's deep serious content but there was humor through out the movie. It is unexpected but really brought heart to the film. It's ironic how a white teacher goes to an all black school to make a difference but not as a role model but even his debilitating habit can turn around one girls life for the better. It was a good film. And keep eyes on Shareeka Epps... she got natural talent. 3 out of 4

Nanny Diaries

I have mixed feeling about this film. There were parts that I really enjoyed that was heart warming and funny but then there were parts that were odd. It had good individual parts but never really came together very well. Hmmm... not a memorable movie. 2 out of 4

I loved this film. It is a funny quirky film. Kerri Russell was amazing in this film. It's simple but it was heartfelt. 4 out of 4

My favorite part is at the end how having a child just empowers a mother to do what she couldn't do before...

Fifty years from now, the sun is dying, and mankind is dying with it. Our last hope: a spaceship and a crew of eight men and women. They carry a device which will breathe new life into the star. But deep into their voyage, out of radio contact with Earth, their mission is starting to unravel. There is an accident, a fatal mistake, and a distress beacon from a spaceship that disappeared seven years earlier. Soon the crew is fighting not only for their lives, but their sanity. (per, com

The movie was entertaining. A bit confusing... but message was loud and clear. Would you sacrifice yourself for a mission that if you failed would be the end of mankind? 2 1/2 out of 4

I loved this film. I thought it was so beautiful and so beautifully written. It's a great love story. It has a powerful cast. Critics gave mixed reviews but it was a movie that took me away to a fantasy land and I just didn't want to go home. 4 out of 4

Live Free or Die Hard

The storyline is not unique. It's pretty much something you've seen before but Bruce Willis makes it different. It was action pack with great stunts. (only in the movies) Amazing never the less. Justin Long made a great comedic accessory to the film. I was entertained. 2 1/2 out of 4

High School Musical 2

A Very Cute Movie. I think I'm officially too old to watch this... The first one is by far much better than this sequel. I found Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens soooooooooo annoying. The only thing great in this film was Ashley Tisdale. She played her character flawlessly. She was hilarious. I can see why the young kids are loving the movie but I am sad to say that I didn't quite enjoy it that much. 2 out of 4

Sex In the City.

I am a huge fan of Sex in the City. When I heard there was going to be a movie, I've been looking forward to it ever since. The movie stayed true to the series. It was so funny and great writing. All the characters from the four girls to the little roles reprised there roles. Mr. Big was actually in love with Carrie and acted like it. He was letting go to love. It was a great conclusion to the series. It moved very quickly in the beginning but then it halted a bit and the ending wasn't as climatic as I thought it could have been but it really wrapped the whole series up.

spoiler alert: It does pull your heartstrings... carrie and Big on the street and petals every where, carrie traveling the snow to be with lonely miranda, charlotte's anger "I curse the day you were born!" , miranda and steve on the brooklyn bridge...

They are talking about doing a sequel but I think they should just let it be.

4 out 4 because i'm a fan!

The Kingdom

I really enjoyed this movie. I don't really like movies like this because of the present war. I do like the point of the movie. Where does the violence end? Revenge is such a strong emotion and in our beliefs and our loyalties, its seems that the violence is justified. I had no idea that Justin Bateman was in this movie and I thought he was the great comic relief in the movie. 3 out of 4

A very sweet movie. You follow these two in a journey of friendship and an emotional affair. I don't fully understand the movie but it left me feeling good. I saw something not only beautiful but I heard something beautiful. I loved at the end the guy's gift to the girl... SO SWEET. 3 out of 4

The Invisible

Totally, not what I expected. The film tugged at some heart strings and of course the selfless sacrifice brought tears to my eyes but overall, it did not bring redemption to the character that attempted murder. When I saw Marcia Gay Harden, I thought, this must be a great movie. But all I can see is a son who misunderstood his mother but in the end when he should have shown compassion, he did not. I sympathized with the mother and ended up disliking the main character. The movie was done all wrong and it is a movie that should have been an after school special with a "Supernatural" twist. 1 out of 4 (skip it)

Baby Mama

I loved this film. It was cute and fun. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are great together. They really were so funny. Tina Fey is so pretty and she has a hot career going on. She had great chemistry with Greg Kinnear. I haven't seen him in anything lately so it was good to see him in a funny film again. It was a bit predictable but the humor is what's worth seeing. 3 out of 4

A movie that follows a chase to catch a serial killer who uses letters to a newspaper and police department to become famous. I don't think the film would have been that good with out great direction and the great actors involved. Don't watch this at night alone at home. Hubs had to work overnights and I swore I kept hearing things... it really got me scared. It's based on a true story. ahhhhhh! 3 out of 4

hmmm.. It catches your attention and it takes you on a wild ride but it goes absolutely no where. Demi Moore got poor reviews but I thought she didn't suck. I can't believe how good she looks for her age. Dane Cook who can normally be seen in comedies, took a chance on this dramatic role and I couldn't help laughing at him. I found him really funny but not in a slap stick kind of way... just because he was so awkward. 2 out of 4

Lives of Others

This is a foreign film. It's about the time before Germany became one. I am not a history buff and I didn't know very much about the history of Germany. I knew nothing about socialism... So I heard this film got many critic awards so, I added it to my queue. I really enjoyed it. Who needs boring history books when you can watch history on tv? hahaha... I don't think this is based on a true story but I'm sure it was inspired by one. 3 1/2 out of 4

Amy Adams nominated role in this film was the reason I wanted to watch this movie. Straight out of Sundance, the movie got a lot of buzz. I didn't realize the buzz was really only about Amy Adams. The movie was odd. I didn't get the point of it. There was lack of really character development or even a conclusion. What was the point? I agree Adams was wonderful and the best thing from the movie but even in the end... I did not get it. 1 out of 4

Entertaining film. It was corny so.. i must of been a corny mood because I really liked it and I even shed a few tears at the end. Self-sacrifice will tug at the heart strings everytime... 2 1/2 out of 4

Reign Over Me

Former college roomates Charlie Fineman and Alan Johnson meet up again by chance on a Manhattan street corner. Five years after losing his family on 9/11, Charlie--once a successful dentist--has retreated from his life, and Alan is stunned to see the changes in his formerly gregarious friend. At the same time, Alan--who should be enjoying his beautiful wife, children and career--is overwhelmed by his responsibilities. Their rekindled relationship becomes a lifeline for the two men, who are both in need of a trusted friend at this pivotal moment in their lives. (per

I really enjoyed this film. Finally, a movie where Don Cheadle is taking the lead. It's not a typical Adam Sandler movie and it is refreshing to see Sandler attempting a serious role where he verbally brings humor to his character. Sandler and Cheadle work really well together. The movie can be viewed a bit clumsy not really putting things together or even revealing a clear purpose of the film. But I see two men, one who lost his family and one who is lost in his family. Charlie needs to deal with his loss and Alan needs to find a way to be part of the family with out losing his family. I liked what the movie attempted. And it's the acting ability of the actors that made the movie worth while to see. Oh and the musical soundtrack is worthy of a mention. The soundtrack was an asset to the film. 3 out of 4

What a fun musical. I really enjoyed it. It was fun and every character was well played. Nikki Blonsky was great and worthy of every accolade. I didn't know what Hairspray was about and I was surprised about the subject matter. It's a great reminder of the injustices black people faced here in America and those that there were people who helped fight against it and those that aided in the injustice. I loved the final number how those subject to injustice came out and fought and won. 3 1/2 out of 4

It's ashame that their are still prejudice against race and even those against socially and physically handicapped and overweight people. We aren't born with prejudice we learn from our parents. What's that saying... "you aren't born to hate, it is learned." I see ignorance in others and even in myself and it would be so nice to finally get to a point where we are all educated and more open-minded.

The King

The King is an independent film that I just heard about and thought I'd watch it. It's a very dark film and it starts off very interesting. Elvis played by Gael Garcia Bernal, seeks out his father who he's never met. His father played by William Hurt is a successful pastor of a church and he rejects Elvis because he is a reminder of his scandoulous mistake before he came to Christ. I heard great things about the acting ability of Bernal but he was very blank in this film. I wasn't quite sure if he was vindictive and wanted to bring down his father or he was just psycho. The movie moved along great but towards the middle when you were expecting the huge climax of the film, it never really was there. It left me feeling... "that's it". hmmm... it makes you think. if all Elvis wanted was to be a part of a family but why did he murder and why did he let himself have incestuous relationship with his half-sister.

The best acting in the film was Pell James and Paul Dano and they were supporting roles. They played Elvis's half sister and brother. Interesting film... and as my hubs said, " what a waste of time!" 1 out of 4

Notes on a Scandal

Notes on a Scandal is an intricate film. Judi Dench and Cate Blanchett are brilliant in this film. Judi Dench played her character so well. She was nominated for an Oscar and she should have won. Her character was so complex and the way she delivered her performance was extraordinary. To appear ugly and yet be mesmerizing at the same time is very hard to do. This is a good film. 3 out of 4

I was a fan of the cartoon way back when. I've been dying to watch the movie directed by Michael Bay. I usually enjoy his stunt pack, slow mo action comedies.. I think he's the American version of John Woo... Well... I really enjoyed the film. I loved how they really brought to life the transformers. The smooth transition to object to robot was really cool. man, things they can do with special effects. I thought Shia Labouf was so so funny. I haven't seen the cartoon for such a long time but when the words, "decepticon" "Optimum prime" "auto bots" "megatron", I got so excited... It was like meeting an old time friend you haven't seen in such a long time. Hubby had to calm me down. He on the other hand didn't like it as much as I but what can I say... I'm a dork. I really enjoyed it. 31/2 out of 4

Jadyn received this movie as a gift. It was really sweet and cute. It's a story that intertwines with old favorites like snow white and sleeping beauty. It one of those "true love" stories. It's a nice idea and it's a nice romantic comedy. My girls liked it but didn't quite get it. I enjoyed it. 3 out of 4

A Mighty Heart

A film based on the true story of a married couple who were in Pakistan for work and the husband, Daniel Pearl, gets kidnapped by terrorist. It follows the pregnant wife, Marianne, with other people to find and save her husband. I can't imagine how horrific the circumstance would be. Although it they weren't able to save Marianne's husband, the strength that she had to get through it and not be so hateful in the end.

Angelina Jolie was great in portraying Marianne. She is so talented. 2 out of 4

License to Wed

Not a very good movie. It was sloppy writing trying to find funny moments but as for the story... there wasn't any. The only thing I liked in the movie was the little protegee of the Priest played by Robin Williams. 1 out of 4

What a HUGE disappointment!!! What happened. The writers failed miserably to deliver a smooth exciting movie. The actors were so under performing that every line seemed so corny and unbelievable that it was awkwardly funny. I don't know what happened to Tobey McGuire who I thought to be talented. He must have thought he didn't have to work b/c Spiderman would make money no matter what he did. He was so awkward in this movie that it seemed like he was a nerd trying to be a super hero. Every time he spoke, I would laugh because he was just so awkward. I never like Dunst so she was horrible as well. They shouldn't have casted Bryce Dallas Howard because she outshined everyone. She was able to showcase her talent in such an ill written movie. The first installment was the best out of the three. This was the worst. 1 out of 4

El cantante

The dramatic-biography of Puerto Rican salsa pioneer Hector Lavoe, one of the biggest Spanish-language singers in the 1970s. The tale follows Lavoe's passionate relationship with his love Puchi, and his skyrocket to international fame. But even when he has it all, Lavoe is unable to escape the allure of drugs and his personal pain. (per

The story has all the makings of a dramatic moving movie. It fell very flat. The movie was too choppy and the direction of the movie was so vague. The only thing good in the movie, I am surprised to say, is Jennifer Lopez. I think she did a great job bringing to the screen the essence of Puchi. It was hard although not to see her in the same light as a pop singer and it was really hard taking her seriously in such a dramatic role. Neverless, she did a good job or at least was the best thing in the movie. Marc Anthony looks better on screen than the pictures of him I see circulating but his acting is kind of flat and I just didn't get what kind of person Lavoe was. The movie was boring and I didn't understand Lavoe and Puchi' s relationship. 1 out of 4

Evan Almighty

Steve Carell is a very very very talented comedian. The movie was entertaining and I enjoyed the message of the movie. I love Wanda Sykes. She needs to stop doing the assistant type roles and get in there and get a meaty co starring role. She's so funny.

Vantage Point

Vantage movie was okay for me. It was very predictable for me especially guessing one of the surprising reveals 10 minutes into the movie. The stunts and action were great. But I thought the movie was just not good even with great actors. I thought Forrest Whitaker was too good for the film. It was entertaining but quality was mediocre. 2 out of 4

Fracture is a suspense thriller starring Anthony Hopkins and Ryan Gosling. Anthony Hopkins doing what he does best by playing a crazy brilliant man. It was a very good film. Ryan Gosling really held strong against Hopkins acting and they had great chemistry. The movie was also very funny. The writing was witty and all through out the film, you'd crack a laugh here and there where you'd least expect it. 3 out of 4

Horton Hears A Who

This movie was great. It really stayed true to the book but added some additional stuff that really added to the theme and even added another theme. It was funny and cute. By the end of the film, I was bawling and I was so touched by Horton's valor. Jim Carey did a great job giving a voice to Horton. All the voices were on point and it really will be a classic. 3 1/2 out of 4

SKIP IT!! Can halle berry act? Was Monsterball a fluke? And Bruce Willis... he must not be getting any roles come his way... Horrible movie. and my favorite Giovonni Ribisi... need a better vehicle. Not worth rating!

A thriller starring unlikely actors who would do these kind of films. Luke Wilson is a horrible actor especially movies that require acting. Kate is a good actor but being paired up with Luke Wilson who is just blah, made her out to be blah, too. As I watched the beginning, you right away know that this couple has no love for each other. It's all in the speech. Hmmm! Seems so familiar... It did tense me up like a good thriller should but the ending was blah. 1 1/2 out of 4

Georgia Rule

Totally not what I expected. The trailer made you believe that this was a normal "Gary Marshall" film... light-hearted with a bunch of comedy. This movie has a dark side. The controversial plot of a really messed up family. It ends all well but the movie seems to not mesh well. Does it want to be comedy or is it a drama. There are great movies out there that can be a dark comedy but this was just so odd. I feel that Jane Fonda and Felicity Huffman's talent was wasted in this film. Lindsay Lohan not consistent in her acting through out this film. I saw glimpses of her talent but she needs some time on honing her skills as an actress. Maybe she's too confident in her talent and doesn't have the eagerness to learn. Too busy partying perhaps. Well, what do I know.

I did like the storyline even though the subject matter is really serious but seeing something once broken and redeemed is always good too watch. 2 out of 4

Another movie where I saw the trailer, I wanted to watch the movie. This movie is nothing what I expected. It had an independent film feel and excellent acting from everyone. It's different and hubby couldn't stand watching it any longer but I needed to see how it ended and then... the disc kept skipping and then stopped playing. UGH!! netflix bothers me sometimes. The Number 23

I love psychological thrillers. This one began slow but it was good. Hubs has no patients with these unless it starts moving quickly. He couldn't get over that Jim Carey was in this thriller. Factory Girl

I totally forgot I added this movie to my queue on Netflix. When it arrived at my doorstep, I wasn't very excited to watch it. I heard that Sienna Miller is this amazing actress and I've seen her in Alfie and o, that movie with Heath Ledger. I wasn't impressed. I thought her to be a bit annoying. So I was expecting anything from this film, all I knew it was about Andy Warhol's muse.

It was a well put together film. Everysingle character was well performed by each actor. It was a great cast. Guy Pearce was brilliant as Andy Warhol. And Sienna Miller was brilliant as well. It was a great role. Edie was so complex and you really feel her fall. It is so tragic but you really sympathize with her. I liked the film. It was well done. Oh, I was surprise to see Jimmy Fallon in a dramatic role. Thank goodness, he was kept at a minimum. I was waiting for him to bring out his comedic ways but he was alright. I think he may have been miscasted but they took a risk and it all worked out in the end. 3 out of 4

A movie that was hyped. Over the summer, I kept hearing 300 is awesome. . The scenary was beautiful. The Sepia tone gave a great feel and makes the shedding of blood that more intense but... the storyline was alright. It was a beautiful movie to watch. However substance wise... it fell flat. Or maybe I was in a mood for a victory and not a martyr type movie. I kept comparing the movie to Gladiator. NoW... gladiator that was a great movie. 2 out of 4

I caught this movie by chance on my cable channel. And I remember 2 year ago seeing the trailer for this movie, and I wanted to see it. Edward Norton is such a great actor. I really liked the story. There they betray each other easily, and find an unexpected chance at redemption and happiness while on a deadly journey into the heart of ancient China. (Per 3 out of 4

I Think I Love My Wife

A funny film by Chris Rock starring Chris Rock. It wasn't a fun film for my hubby. I kept interrogating him thought out the film. "would YOU do that?" "you better not do that!" "what would you do if she did that?" It was a stressful film to watch, I'm sure, for him. hahahahaha... The message is good but my only gripe is .... at the end ... why did chris rock and gina torres break in to song? that was stupid. 2 1/2 out of 4
